This moving and timely documentary sets the stage for the investigation of the unsolved murder of Venus Xtravaganza, one of the iconic stars of Paris Is Burning, the legendary 1990 documentary about drag queens in the ballroom scene of New York City. Venus died during that film’s shoot and now, 35 years later, the spotlight is back on Venus as her two families — biological and ballroom — stand united to discover the truth, challenge the system and honor the legacy of their sister. The road for justice is a difficult one as they revisit old wounds, examining every event and detail to find a path toward healing and positive change.

I had the honor of associate producing this wonderful film, which premiered in June at the Tribeca Film Festival. From director Kim Reed, to producer Mike Stafford, to DP Rose Bush, this project was absolutely stacked with incredibly skilled and compassionate talent that made the filmmaking process one for the books. The film will make you laugh, cry, maybe even vogue!

Attending the two-week Château d'Orquevaux Artists and Writers Residency in France was a transformative experience for me as a writer. Nestled in the picturesque French countryside, the château's serene environment provided an idyllic backdrop for creative exploration. The residency fostered a sense of community among artists and writers from diverse backgrounds, with daily gatherings in the grand salon to share our progress and insights. Immersed in the château's rich history and surrounded by inspiring landscapes, I found myself delving deeper into my work, unearthing new layers of creativity. The uninterrupted time to write, combined with the stimulating conversations and supportive atmosphere, made my stay at Château d'Orquevaux an unforgettable and profoundly enriching experience.

I developed and produced this short film, which follows the inspiring story of Jay Jay Patton, a young coding prodigy who developed an app for children of incarcerated parents that allows families to more easily communicate. Jay Jay was inspired by her father, who learned coding while incarcerated. When I discovered Jay Jay and her incredible story, I learned that the educational program that taught Jay Jay’s father how to code was the Bard Prison Initiative, an incredible program run by my alma mater. This connection added a personal and poignant layer to the narrative, highlighting the transformative power of education and technology.

"Coney Island Caviar" is my novella, which I submitted as my senior thesis at Bard College in 2018. Set in the vibrant and nostalgic landscape of Coney Island, the story intertwines themes of memory, identity, and the search for meaning. My protagonists navigate personal and familial relationships, delving into their histories against the backdrop of the iconic amusement park. Through richly drawn characters and evocative settings, I aimed to capture life's complexities and the ways places and experiences shape our understanding of ourselves and our connections to others.

“Noctiluca scintillans” is a short story, I wrote which was selected for publication in Asterism, a literary magazine. The story explores a magical transformation of the familiar into the extraordinary. As the protagonist uncovers the beach's bioluminescent wonders and grapples with the loss of innocence and wonder, a narrative unfolds about the transient nature of magic, love, and the passage of time. The story weaves together themes of memory, discovery, and the inexorable march of time, all while retaining a touch of the mystical.
